Installation: All Weather Awning for North Norfolk Holiday Camp
13/10/2016Since Billy Butlin opened his first holiday camp in Skegness in 1936, holiday camps have become a British institution. Their heyday was in the 1950s when families flocked to the British seaside – for many, it was their first holiday since the outbreak of war. The availability of cheap flights to hotter climates has seen the British holiday camp reinvent itself, attracting holidaymakers with themed weekends, car rallies and knockout sports competitions. One unchanging factor throughout this marvellous history has been the vagaries of the British weather, but one north Norfolk holiday camp has come up with a solution that should enable their customers to sit outside all year round: a Weinor Pergotex All Weather Awning.
The holiday camp wanted people to be able to sit outside with their pets and enjoy a rest and a cup of tea, whatever the weather. We installed an awning 7m wide that would extend out 4m over the decking outside the cafe. The awning is fully retractable so, when the sun is shining, holidaymakers will still be able to enjoy the weather.
When extended, the awning provides a large area of shelter. This will be especially useful for dog owners who won’t want to leave their pets outside during a spot of bad weather. The awning is attached to a sturdy frame and supported at the front by two solid posts. This makes it suitable for use all year round.
We have years of experience installing awnings for commercial and residential properties all over East Anglia. In addition to large installations like this one, we can supply Dutch awnings, folding arm awnings and giant umbrellas. For more information, call Cooks Blinds and Shutters Ltd on 01603 410304.
