Room with a View: Glass Garden Rooms at Thetford Garden Centre

When you have a beautiful view to look out onto, the last thing you want is to spoil it with bulky columns, frames and unnecessary parts. Such was the case at the wonderful Thetford Garden Centre, whose newly expanded restaurant area overlooks beautiful countryside and what was the old Kilverstone Wildlife Park. We were pleased to be awarded the contract to supply and install a large glass garden room with frameless glass sliding doors to transform the dining area into a bright, modern space that can be enjoyed all year round. 

To make the most of the views, we supplied a Weinor Terrazza glass garden room equipped with Weinor Sottezza electric under glass roof awnings and Weinor W17C frameless glass sliding doors. The exceptional strength and construction of the Terrazza roof ensures a safe glass roof that’s thermally efficient, staying warm in the winter and cool in the summer. The Terrazza, measuring over 11m long and 5.8m in depth, was supplied in the client’s choice of colour to match existing window and door frames at the site. 

The Sottezza electric awnings were fitted under the glass to provide shade, the elegant and minimal design is easy to operate allowing the wait staff to adjust the position of the shades throughout the day to keep customers comfortable. Regulating the temperature and stopping glare whilst in use, the design is stylish and practical. When not in use, the shading retracts into a discreet cassette that’s integrated into the architecture of the roof making it seemingly disappear! 

The glass sliding doors were installed along two sides of the room, allowing the stunning views to be enjoyed all year round. In summer the frameless doors can be opened up to let in sunshine and birdsong, whilst in winter the doors protect against rain, wind and snow without obscuring the landscape. 

This was a unique installation that we were thrilled to be involved in. We were able to provide advice and design options to the client to help them maximise their business and delight customers with a place to enjoy a cup of tea with a difference.
