Solar Shading Systems in All Shapes and Sizes

27/05/2014
When it comes to design for modern buildings, the use of sunscreens as a means of reducing solar heat gain through glazing has become an important consideration. In an age where there is an increasing emphasis on controlling internal environments and a reduction in energy consumption, solar shading systems have become a necessity. Reducing solar heat gain can be particularly beneficial at points in the year when the sun is lower in the sky causing intense vertical exposure. Our range of solar shading systems currently includes:
  • Shade sails: Available in a range of different shapes and sizes, though commonly seen in triangular or rectangular designs, shade sails are a piece of shaped fabric held in place under controlled tension between a number of fixed posts or brackets. The posts can be supplied in either steel or timber; whilst the fabric is surprisingly robust woven-treated polyester.
  • Brise Soleil: Chances are you will have seen this type of shading on a building before, but perhaps presumed it was there purely for decoration. Produced in a range of louvred or ellipsoid aluminium blades, this system can be painted to complement the rest of your building. Taking into account factors such as the position and elevation of your building, we can determine the size of the shading required.
